Ward Young Men Pine Wood Derby - No Rules

This is Patrick here. We had a fun time making pine wood derbies. All young men 12-18 were involded. When the boys were cub scouts, they made pine wood derbies with their fathers. They had a lot of rules and their dad did most of it :) This time they got to do it themselves. Some of the dads still helped but mostly it they did it. They were very creative especially once we started. After the first race they started looking around the gym for anything that they could tape onto the car. They used hammers, boxes of bolts, paint, screw drivers, alan wrenches, etc. 2 of the cars had propellers on them. Matthew and I made one out of a wrecked remote control air plane. With the remote control, we were able to control the speed of the propeller. It was very fast and fun to build.

The Dobyns had a green car that was controlled by remote control. It was also fast. Seth Tomlinson made one out of an Air Hog that was also fast. The Young men had a great time. I had a great time watching them.
