Camping Trip to Fremont Indian State Park

We went on a field trip to Fremont Indian State Park. We camped at Castle Rock Camp ground close by. We went with a group of homeschoolers and had a blast! This is trip 1 out of 10 to explore and learn about all the Native American sites in Utah. The next field trip we are going to is in Zion National Park. We get to sleep in a Tee Pee, eat native food, make native crafts, learn the dances, etc.

Below are some pictures of the activities we did while we were at the Fremont Indian State Park.

We just set up camp and Brady is lounging in the hammock.

We had a lot of visitors. This little guy came right up to us and we fed him almonds. He also stole a banana peal and ate the whole thing. Good thing it was organic : ) We also saw some cotton tail rabbits and lots of lizards.
This is why its called Castle Rock. It looks just like a castle. It was so much fun climbing through the crevices.
Patrick and I are trying to get some rest. Our camping spot was beautiful with lots of trees and a fun little stream close by.
Savannah and Matthew playing by the stream. Most of the time they are best friends.
Here's cute little Tanner posing on Castle rock.
Matthew caught a friend. Cute lizard!

Here are the kids climbing through the crevices.
Here Matthew is throwing the Atlatl. This is a weapon the Fremont Indians used for hunting.
Savannah takes her turn. Watch out!
Savannah and Brady are playing in the stream. There is no such thing as just getting your feet wet in this family.
Matthew, you're NUTS!!
These are some cool rock art pictures. This park has the most rock art in Utah. Very cool.
We also went to the Hundred Hands Cave but the picture didn't show up here. There are only about 30 hands on the cave walls but it was neat to see hand prints of people who lived so long ago.

Here is a place we call the granary, a place the Indians stored grains for the winter.
This is a pithouse where the Fremont slept, cooked, and kept warm or cool. It was very small. These Indians were small framed people. It was pretty cool inside on such a hot day.
Savannah inside the pithouse.
Brady hit the target and won a prize.
Throwing the Atlatl was the kid's favorite activity.
This really was fun!
Savannah showing off her bag that she bought in the museum. Time to go home but no one wanted to go.

Girls Camp

This was Savannah's first year at girl's camp. She had a lot of fun. I need to get
a good picture of her but this will have to do for now.
It's hard trying to figure out how to do all this blogging stuff. Argg!

Here's a picture of her and a friend.

His favorite activity was the archery below.

Cute smile buddy!!

Here's the whole crew. What a cute bunch of boys.

Today was a fun day. Brady turned 9 and I got to spend the day with him at day camp. He loves any kind of electronics and wanted a camera for his birthday. He now has a better camera then I do : ) For birthdays my kids don't like cake so they pick out their favorite treat and ice cream. Brady chose pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and mint chocolate chip ice cream. YUM! He's having a friend party in a week.

Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
2 cups cream
1 cup whole milk
2 eggs
1/2 cup agave
1 tsp mint flavor
1 cup Dagoba chocolate chips

Put everything into blender (other then chocolate chips) and blend for 10 seconds. Put into ice cream maker, add chocolate chips and freeze according to direction. If you want to pasteurize eggs, bring cream and eggs to 180 and cool before blending and freezing.

Pumpkin Cookies
4 cup whole grain flour
1 cup Agave or honey
3 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
1 can of pumpkin
3/4 cup coconut oil, melted
2 eggs
2 T. milk
2 tsp vanilla
1-2 cups Dagoba chocolate chips
1 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)

Preheat oven to 375. Mix all wet ingredients in mixer. add dry ingredients to wet and blend. stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Bake for 13. This makes a big batch.

Hello

I'm finally going to do it!! I'm entering the blogging world. My son Matthew is Patiently teaching me how to upload pictures. These are some cute pictures that my daughter has taken of my three boys. She loves photography and these look so good. She also took the picture of our kitty above.

We are a homeschool, healthfood nut family. We love learning and having adventures together. We have 17 chickens, two goats, one kitty, two dogs, and one hamster. I guess you could say that we love animals : ) Matthew loves piano, piano, and more piano, soccer, basketball, web design, and outdoor activities. He's starting to learn to drive so beware. Savannah is my artistic child. She love singing, theater, horse riding, any animals, soccer, painting, and photography. Brady is my gadget boy. He sings, likes theater, soccer, playing with friends, and playing games. Tanner is our little sweetheart. He's always ready to give hugs and kisses when needed. He's happy doing what everyone else is doing.

Well, I guess that's it for now. We will see if this works.

Savannah made Matthew pose.  Good looking boy!!
