Matthew has been out on his mission for almost 3 1/2 months!! He is doing well and learning so much good. I miss him like crazy but am so proud of the young man he has become and is becoming. I have a private missionary blog for him that I post his emails and pictures at, but I wanted to post some pictures here (ok, it's a ton of pictures but hey I'm the Mom so I can do it)
His Farewell - So many of his friends and family came to support him. He gave a wonderful talk and then afterward we had a lunch for everyone to come and enjoy and spend some last moments with Matthew. We got the camera out late so didn't get too many picture but here are a few.
The morning he reported to the MTC
I had to get some last minute pictures of my handsome missionary!
Some last snuggles and hugs!
The drop off. We got one last picture of the family before we dropped him off. This is in front of the MTC.
The drop off! Man..I never realized just how hard it would be! He was so overwhelmed that he wasn't really paying attention to saying good bye. I hugged him and he was trying to get away but I held fast and got my last hug : )
Good bye my sweet son.

I guess most of the missionaries buy a "cut your own hair" kit and this is Matthew's first self haircut! I think it looks really good! Man he's so handsome : )
This is Matthew's first baptism that he got to perform!
One P-day they went mountain biking!
